Build Power Mercy Lifeway began with a frustrated prayer and Jude 1:20-22. The story on this page is how it unfolded, in her own words.

Our story

How a frustrated prayer and Jude 1:20–22 became Build Power Mercy Lifeway

For years, I lived on a hamster wheel. My mind was scattered and cloudy. I was afraid, confused, and lost, asking the questions so many of us ask quietly: What am I doing with my time on this earth? What does God want me to do? What's the point?

When I looked back on my life, I saw a pattern. I'd done a lot of good things, but nothing great. I started a hair oil business. Good, not great. I ran a juicing business for a while. Good, not great. I went to cosmetology school, earned my license, and worked in a salon. Good, but it never filled the void inside me. I'd start things and not finish them, and I was getting a reputation as a jack of all trades and a master of none. I knew I was smart. I knew God had given me gifts. I just couldn't find my purpose.

The body I was living in

I've always been a natural athlete. But life happened, kids happened, and I gained more than 100 pounds. I was over 300 pounds and in pain all the time. Diabetes and high blood pressure run in my family, and I wanted to be healthy for my family and for myself. I'd tried it all: Weight Watchers, crash diets, keto, personal trainers. Almost none of it worked. My husband and I were done having children, so together we decided I would have weight loss surgery.

In 2019, I had the vertical sleeve. I followed the pathway and the tools I was given, and I hired a trainer. As the weight came off and I could move freely again, the athlete in me woke back up, and I went on to earn my personal training certification.

But here's what I learned. The surgery and the trainer helped my body. Nothing touched what was going on inside me: the body dysmorphia, the need for validation, the need for acceptance, the love for yourself that should exist in whatever body shape you're in. Our culture teaches that thin is healthy, and that isn't always true. So who gets to define what you should look like? There's only one answer: the Creator.

The prayer

Even with my health back, the old cycle was still there: new ideas, unfinished plans, and a mind that felt out of control. One day I looked up and prayed the angriest, most honest prayer of my life: God, don't give me one more idea unless You give me the time, the motivation, and the direction to do it. Order my steps. Show me the purpose You have for my life, and I will follow.

Then I quieted my mind, and a thought came: get your Bible. I'll be honest, it felt a little cliché. But I prayed over it, closed my eyes, opened it, and let my finger stop on the page. When I opened my eyes, I was looking at Jude 1:20–22:

"But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God's love. And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering." (Jude 1:20–22, NLT)

Build. Power. Mercy. That was the name, and that was my assignment.

What God showed me

"Dear friends" told me exactly who I'm here for: my peers, God's children. "Build each other up in your most holy faith" told me to put God first in everything. "Pray in the power of the Holy Spirit" told me not just to pray, but to pray in His power. "Await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ" spoke to me in the season I was depressed, angry, withdrawn, and lost. And the promise didn't stop there. It ended in eternal life and the peace my mind, body, and soul had been craving.

Suddenly my whole life made sense. The teaching training in college. The analytical and research work in my education and career. The hair care, the hair oil, the juicing. Coaching young people's minds and spirits. Mentoring women through weight struggles, marriage, raising children, careers, and their walk with Jesus. None of it was wasted. It was all preparation for this.

Why BPM Lifeway exists

The vision came first. In 2026, I made it official and founded BPM Lifeway, because what was missing from every program I tried wasn't another diet or another workout. It was healing from the inside, with Jesus Christ leading the way.

BPM connects Scripture to real life. It gives you real tools, practices, and habits with biblical support, for your body, your mind and emotions, and your spirit, built to last and grow with you. Pause points and content notes are built in, so you can move through your journey honestly and at your own pace.

So I'll say it plainly: I'm not the miracle worker. God is. I'm here to build you up, pray in His power, and show mercy, the same way He did for me.
